Happy Valentines Day!  I appreciate the idea of a day devoted to love set in the middle of winter, when we need warm feelings to drive away the chill of the cold winter days.  However, this weekend it was 82 degrees F in North Carolina so….  But it is great to have a day a day devoted to all kinds of love, regardless of the weather.

In my literature classes, we talk a lot about great opening lines or segments in books and poems.  But this Valentines Day, I’m going to post what I think is one of the best opening sequences in a modern movie.  This is one of my favorite movies, so I may be biased.  However, I think it provides us with a great Valentines Day message:
