If you are interested in buying more of your presents from small, local businesses, today is a great day to start! For several years, American Express has sponsored Small Business Saturday, a campaign for people to buy Christmas presents from small businesses on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Many small local companies don’t try to compete with Black Friday but offer specials or discounts and/or, around here at least, snacks or goodies to enhance your shopping experience on Small Business Saturday. So, if you don’t typically shop from small local stores, today may be a good day to explore your local merchants.
