Motivational Music Monday: Pride Edition

Wow, here we are in June already. June is a month based in love (especially weddings) and accomplishments (high school graduations, sports competitions, musical and dance recitals, etc.). But since 1999, it has also been the official Gay Pride Month (expanding into LGBTQ+ population). While I identify as a female cisgender, I am an ally for those of other affiliations.

The topic for my spiritual center’s theme of the month is In Living Color. It is all about Living Out Loud, or claiming and proclaiming who you are in the world.

Today’s music is from a Broadway show, Le Cage aux Folles. It is a wonderful musical about embracing your own truth while accepting differences, told primarily through a gay perspective. It is known as a Gay Anthem. This rendition is perhaps less geared to the LGBTQ+ version, but demonstrates it’s something true for everyone across the world. I know things are more difficult for marginalized populations in the US right now. But pride is something we all want, despite gender or race or nationality or any of the other things that we think might separate us.

PS–Let me know in the comments which dance segment was your favorite. I know mine, but would love to hear other people’s opinions.
