Motivational Music Monday: No Kings Version

Since President Trump’s 2025 inauguration, I have participated in all the major nationwide protests organized by 50501 and related organizations. So far, last Saturday’s second No Kings gathering has been the most fun. In my town of Cary, the first No Kings drew about 2,000 protesters. Last Saturday it’s estimated there were at least 4,000 attendees, not including the hundreds of cars that drove by, with people honking their horns and waving their arms in solidarity. The homemade signs were beautiful, creative, and often hilarious. The energy was passionate but positive, electric and uplifting. There were seniors in wheelchairs, toddlers in wagons, and everything in-between. And the addition of costumed protesters–I saw dinosaurs and unicorns, farm and cartoon animals, space aliens and others I didn’t recognize–lent some extra whimsy and joy to the event. If you saw videos of these patriotic citizens speaking up for their values and rights, or the rights of their neighbors…well, I can’t imagine you could see this as a gathering of people who “hate America.”

It’s hard to pick one song as the message of these events. But I finally settled on an oldie, but a goodie. Enjoy! And keep speaking out on behalf of democracy! Watch it on YouTube at: https://youtu.be/v-TM9vSXNns?si=cQcLScmi4LBkoP73
