Motivational Music Monday: Venerable Monks Edition

One of the great joys of the past few months has been following the progress of the Venerable Monks in their Walk for Peace. It has been such a nice counterpoint to the violence and anger we’ve seen in Minneapolis and other divided areas in our country. We got to actually hear the Monks speak and it was such an inspirational evening (you can read more about that at: https://blissfullu.com/2026/01/24/the-walk-for-peace-came-to-the-triangle-area-of-nc-and-i-was-there/).

But the Venerable Monks’ 2,300 mile journey is about to come to an end. They will arrive in Washington DC this week, have a few final public events, and return to Texas on a bus on February 12. They have been such a model of peace and commitment and carrying on dispite obstacles, and I for one will totally miss them.

So my farewell present to the Monks is posting this song video about them, their journey, and their mission. Previously, I posted a portion of the session I attended (see https://blissfullu.com/2026/01/25/walk-for-peace-loving-kindness-forgiveness-meditation/), where head monk Bhikkhu Kannapara recommended that we start each day writing on a peace of paper “Today is going to be my peaceful day.” I’ve long been a morning journaler, so I immediately added that to my practice. But for those who don’t journal, I think that listening to his song every morning might serve the same purpose.

And because this has been such a special event, I’m doing a two-fer MMM today. Here is another song about the wisdom, peace, and grace demonstrated by everyone’s favorite “monk”: Aloka the Peace Dog

Hope these songs help you make today, and every day, your peaceful day!
