When we moved into our new house, some families gave us different bird feeders. We had never had bird feeders at our old home because it was so forested. We love seeing the birds that now gather around our porch. However, it also seems like a responsibility to me. Once birds start counting on food from our feeder, I feel like I need to be a constant and steady source of the food they are expecting.
However, I’ve noticed how quickly the birds have been going through our food recently. I’ve been needing to refill our feeder much more frequently than I have during most other seasons. Unlike other seasons, when I ignore the empty feeder while rushing to work, I feel the need to provide the food our birds are counting on.
So, I went to buy more bird seed yesterday at my favorite provider, Wild Birds Unlimited. They have a wonderful variety of bird seed or other bird feed, and in my experience are high quality. So I recommend them.
But when I went in yesterday to buy more seed, I discovered that all bird food was on a 20% discount. When I talked to the staff, they said that everyone (like me) was going through birdseed at a rapid rate. So, the store discounted all bird food to 20% off to help everyone keep up feeding the birds. I know the staff in our store are bird feeders because we swap stories and preferred bird seed.
I want to give them a shout-out because, at a time when demand is high, they chose to reduce their prices to help people provide birds with the food they need to get through the winter rather than to raise their prices for maximum profits.
I don’t know if this is the policy at all Wild Birds Unlimited stores. But for at least at the one at Cary, I acknowledge them for backing what they say they are about, which is supporting birds, by giving us customers a discount to keep feeding birds through these lean times.
To me, that is a Company That Does Good. So I wanted to spotlight them.
If you live in the area, the Wild Birds Unlimited sale goes on until at least next Tuesday, February 4. So if you, too, are a bird feeder operator, I recommend getting their great seed at a great price in the coming week.
