Yesterday at our Spiritual Center, we had the always delightful Rev. Amy Steinberg as a guest speaker. Amy is always full of energy and enthusiasm and combines her skill as a musician, visual artist, and writer with her deep spiritual insight as a New Thought “mini-star.” It was a wonderful service. I encourage you to learn more about this dynamic woman at her website: https://www.amysteinberg.net.
There are dozens of her songs I could use for Motivational Music Mondays. I chose this one because I think that during these challenging times, it is important to focus on what we are FOR, not just what we are against. It’s hard, because almost every day the current Administration announces some new plan or policy that I, at least, am opposed to. A “gift” of a $400 million luxury jet from a country that supports anti-American terrorists? NO. Passage of a budget that cuts funding for medical treatment and food programs for the poor to extend tax breaks to billionaires? NO. Spending $45 million on a military parade that will send tanks through the streets of our nation’s capitol to celebrate the President’s birthday? NOOOO.
But energetically, it is important to approach these things based on the values we support, not the manifestations we don’t like. While I do contact my representatives frequently asking them to vote against legislation I think is wrong, I try to frame my request in positive terms. I’m PRO-Constitution, which includes a clause that prohibits the President from accepting expensive gifts from anyone, let alone a problematic country like Qatar. I’m in favor of the rich paying their fair share of taxes. I like the idea expressed in Matthew 25:40 that Christians should support those whom Jesus calls “the least of my brothers.” I think it’s a good idea for the President to avoid birthday celebrations that remind us of Nazi Germany.
There is a saying that what you resist persists. So I offer today’s song as reminder not to get sucked into constantly opposing things. Let’s be vocal about the vision we have of a better path for our country and our world! Let’s say YES to BLISS!

Amy is awesome! Thanks for sharing!Sent from my iPhone
