Camp Nanowrimo 2020

I haven’t been blogging as much this month because I’ve been working on another writing project. It’s almost done, and I plan to be announcing it early next month.

In the meantime, I will say that I “WON” Camp Nanowrimo 2020! Nanowrimo is National Novel Writing Month, which takes place in November every year. In the official NaNoWriMo month, adults take on the challenge of writing 50,000 words in November. But a couple of other months of the year, the organization runs Camp Nanowrimo, in which you can set your own goal.

For this yet-unreleased project, I first set a goal of 10,000 words, but I needed more than that. So I set a second goal of 20,000 words, but the project wasn’t that long. However, I added in some of the words I’m writing that will help launch the project.

Anyway, I blasted past 20,000 words several days ago, but didn’t update my count. Suddenly I realized this was the last day of July and the last day I could qualify as “winning” Camp Nanowrimo. So I just input my latest point totals and claimed my prize!

It’s not a huge thing, but I enjoy the Nanowrimo format to keep me motivated when I’m writing. I plan to tackle the big 50,000 goal once again in November. If you would like to join me, check out the rules and the wonderful support mechanisms for writers at:

Thanks, NaNoWriMo, for another fun month of writing!
