We had an unusual start to the first work day in 2022––some rare North Carolina snow! It doesn’t often snow in the Triangle area, so it always seems clean and fresh and magical when it does. And this was a very convenient snow, because it didn’t start until around 11 AM (that is, not interfering rush hour) and had stopped by mid-afternoon when it was time for the children to come home from their first day “back to school” (no big school bus drama). Since it had been around 70 degrees the day before, it melted as soon as it hit the ground, so it didn’t cover the neighborhood in a beautiful blanket of white. Still, I thought it was an omen of good things to come this year.
In this photo of the trees in our yards, you can’t really tell that it is snowing since nothing stuck:

You can see it better in contrast to the shingles on our carport:

They were big, wet flakes that quickly disappeared. But still, I’ll take it! I think it was ushering in a fresh start for the new year to a world that is tired of two years of the pandemic.
At least that’s my story, and I’m sticking to it.
When it started to snow I put my boots on and played in it with the dogs! It was so beautiful and reminded me of Michigan…but I’m good with it not sticking… 🙃
