How was your May Day? Mine was busy but powerful. Here are a few highlights of the day…
I did the meditation from yesterday’s post so I would be centered in May Day or Beltane energy (click here for that post).
I had a business call at 1:00 that I took outside, basking in the beautiful weather and soaking up the Vitamin D. I left the door open so the cats could come out in the backyard as well. Just as I was finishing up my call, I noticed my cat Mica trotting back into the house…with something in her mouth! I quickly said goodbye and raced in. It turned out it was a lizard that had somehow escaped her grasp and was racing down the hall. I grabbed the cat and put her outside to keep the lizard safe, then scurried after the lizard. It disappeared around a plastic container we have by the front door to deposit our shoes when we come in. I lifted up the container but couldn’t see the lizard. I put the container outside in hopes the lizard was in there somewhere and would return to the wild.
However, I didn’t see any signs of the lizard. The shoe box is next to the entrance to my office/classroom, which is filled with bookcases and tubs of many craft supplies I use when teaching children. That meant there are zillions of places for a lizard to hide. I was worried about the little lizard, so I left the front door open, hoping if the lizard was even still alive, it could find it ways back to the outdoors where it belonged.
So that whole thing was kind of a bummer.
Then a friend send me a May newsletter with meditations and mantras about the Blessed Mother energy. That lifted my spirits. That happened around 3:00, or about an hour and a half after the lizard escapade.
Another friend sent me a text. He had brought by some construction paper for me the day before. Knowing that he volunteers at the Dorcus Thrift Shop (a fabulous organization in Cary–click here for more info), yesterday I asked him to keep an eye out for something for me.
I often bring food to our Spiritual Center to share with people for lunch when we have a meeting or workshop after the service. But because we lots of food sensitivities or diets, I usually make the basic dish gluten-free and vegetarian and keep it warm in my big Instant Pot or Crock Pot. But then I often bring some meat or gluten-based add-ins for those who can eat them. The issue is keeping everything warm, because we don’t have a refrigerator or microwave or anything like that. And for MONTHS now, as I’m making or warming up or packing up the food on Sunday morning, I think “I should get one of those little Crock Pots or Instant Pots instead of my big, bulky, heavy Crock Pot for secondary items.” Then I forget about it until the next Sunday morning I’m bringing food.
Anyway, on Wednesday, April 30 when my friend was over, I explained my situation and asked him to look out for a baby Crock Pot for me. He said he would, great guy that he is.
So imagine my surprise when around 3:30 (lizard episode +2 hours), he texted me asking “Is this what you had in mind?”

YES! It was exactly what I had been thinking of. He got it for me (for the kingly sum of $3.00) and brought it over to use for our lunch this Sunday.
Isn’t it great to have friends? Especially those who are generous and Master Manifestors? I had been thinking about this for months, but once I asked for it aloud and requested support from a friend, it became reality in less than 24 hours. I thought that was a pretty powerful lesson from the universe for me.
Shortly after he left, I noticed something out of the side of my eye. My friend the lizard was slinking its way towards my front door, which I had continued to leave open. I managed to catch a quick photo just as it made its exit from my home back into nature.
That made me so, so happy. It may seem like a small thing. But I really felt bad that on May Day, which is supposed to be a celebration of life, that the lizard got trapped in my house and would die. So I kept the door open for maybe 5 hours? Except when my friend was visiting because I didn’t want to go into the lizard tale with him.
I recently got a beautiful new card deck called The Cosmic Animals Emotional Intelligence Cards by a wonderful North Carolina artist named Tanya Casteel (learn more at https://tanyacasteel.com). In that card deck, lizards represent adaptability, particularly the ability to leave behind what no longer serves us, just as a lizard will lose its tale to save its life. But in this case, I think the lesson was Faith and Not Giving Up. I continued to leave the door open in hope/faith, and the lizard continued to try to find its way back to its home.
Another powerful message from the universe for me…and maybe for the lizard as well. My iNaturalist app says it’s probably a brown skink. So Mr./Ms. Skink, I apologize for my cat and hope you have a long happy life outdoors where you belong.
I also got a call from one of my brothers whom I almost never get to talk to, and had a webinar that night about the Enneagram, which is a tool I always love learning more about. Kind of a great day all around.
I think my big take-away is that there are miracles all around us. We just have to believe in them to see them.

Awesome, Carol! Sounds like a blessed day 🦋Glad you liked the email!LoveDSent from my iPhone
