It’s MayDay! A Day to Celebrate Being Alive

Mayday has a long tradition in Western, particularly English/Celtic, culture. Midway between the Spring Equinox and the Summer Solstice, it is a time to celebrate fertility and being alive. Spring Equinox is great, when we start to see the Earth revive and begin planting our seeds and intentions for the season. But it’s still pretty dark and cool. Things start to come alive in April, but you can still get frosts overnight, and the rains that bring flowers, and ALL THAT POLLEN! It’s really the beginning of May when you may reach that perfect blend of weather, sunlight, color, blossoms, new life, and…joy.

In the Pagan tradition, this holiday is called Beltane. I love this meditation, and recommend you find some time today to listen to it. It’s been very powerful for me, and hope it will be for you as well. When the world around us is sending messages of fear and anger and conflict, it is important for us to find ways to assert our joy in being alive. This meditation helps me to do that.

And if you need some inspiration to get dancing with joy, remember my Motivational Music Monday video a couple of days ago at: https://blissfullu.com/2025/04/28/motivational-music-monday-may-day-cinco-de-mayo-edition/
