It’s been a tough week or so for me, and I assume for others as well. So I just wanted to share this encouraging message from NJ Senator Cory Booker. I was planning to be in New Jersey this weekend for a wedding, but circumstances made it such that I chose to stay home to take care of others. But I love the idea that the representatives I’m always writing to (and sometimes sending money to) are thinking about encouraging us as well.
For those who know me, it’s no secret that I love (platonically) Senator Cory Booker. I hope his words will uplift you as they did for me. Take care of yourself this Labor Day weekend.
If you have a moment, I want you to slow down and take a quick breather with me. 😮💨 Right now, stop and recognize the incredible work we have been doing together.
Now pat yourself on the back. You have shown up at town halls, around kitchen tables, and in quiet acts of kindness that never made the headlines but kept our communities moving forward.
I know times are hard. I know worry and fatigue are real. Still, I see how you keep showing up with love and courage, even when it is easier to look away. That steady commitment matters more than you may realize.
When we slow down for a second we remember why we do this. We do it because we believe in a country where every child has a fair shot, where our neighbors can breathe clean air, where folks can get the care they need, and where love and dignity guide how we treat one another.
So please take this moment. Let yourself feel the pride of what we have built so far and the quiet confidence that, together, we will get through whatever comes next.
Thank you for continuing to show up and for carrying this work with so much heart.
With love and gratitude,
Cory
